One request. Offers from licensed BDCs. You choose.
Trust Aboki is not a bureau de change and never holds your money. You exchange directly with the licensed provider you choose.
The three steps
Say what you need
Buy or sell, which currency, how much, where and when. If you’re buying, what it’s for — BDCs need that to sell legally.
Get rates from licensed BDCs
BDCs that serve your area send their rate, what you’d pay or receive in naira, and how long they’ll hold it.
Choose and exchange
Compare them side by side, choose one, agree a time in messages, and exchange at the BDC’s branch.
Why we ask what the money is for
Under the CBN’s rules, licensed BDCs may sell foreign currency to individuals only for approved purposes. Telling providers the purpose up front lets them prepare the right paperwork and saves you a wasted trip.
Personal travel
Usually: valid passport, visa (where required) and travel ticket.
Business travel
Usually: passport, visa, ticket and a letter from your employer or business.
School fees abroad
Usually: admission letter and the school’s fee invoice.
Medical bills abroad
Usually: invoice or letter from the hospital abroad.
Exams or professional fees
Usually: the exam body or association’s invoice.
What “verified” means
Only providers with a current, staff-checked CBN licence can send you offers.
What we check
- The business’s BDC licence number and name against the CBN’s published list of licensed BDCs.
- That the licence tier covers the state where the BDC serves customers.
- We re-check every licence year — licences expire on 31 December.
- Every check is recorded with the date and the source we used.
What “verified” doesn’t mean
- It is not an endorsement by the CBN or any regulator.
- It doesn’t guarantee a particular rate or service quality — that’s what reviews and response times are for.
- Uploading a document is not verification. Pending providers can’t send offers.
Where your money goes
Straight between you and the BDC
Stay safe
- Only exchange at the BDC’s licensed branch — never on the street or at a “meet-up” spot.
- Pay by bank transfer to the business’s own account, never to a personal account.
- Only pay when you’re at the branch — never send money in advance to someone you’ve only chatted with — and never share your PIN or OTP.
- Payment screenshots can be faked. Confirm funds in your own bank app.
