Currency calculator

How many dollars does your naira buy, or what are your pounds worth in naira? Every answer shows the rate it used and the sum, so you can check it.

Work it out

Enter an amount to see it worked out at each rate.

A guide only — not an offer. A licensed BDC’s rate for you depends on the amount, the branch and the day. Naira figures are rounded to the naira; foreign amounts round down to the cent.

How it’s worked out

We multiply or divide by the rate shown, exactly — no rounding until the end. Naira results are rounded to the nearest naira. Dollars, pounds, euros and dirhams are rounded down to the cent, so we never tell you your naira buys more than it does.

The CBN publishes three rates for each currency every business day: CBN buying, CBN central and CBN selling. We use central, the middle one, unless you choose another. Buying and selling are the CBN’s own rates, a little either side of it — not what a bureau de change will charge you or pay you.

All three are references for the official market. Licensed bureaux de change (BDCs) usually sell foreign currency for a little more and buy it for a little less. Where licensed BDCs have posted their own rates on Trust Aboki, the calculator also works it out at the best one, and names the BDC.

None of these is an offer. To get a rate a BDC will hold for you, post a request and compare offers — you then exchange at their branch and pay the BDC directly.
