About these rates

Why is a BDC’s price different from the CBN’s?

The CBN’s rates reflect the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM), where banks trade. Licensed BDCs buy foreign currency from banks and other approved sources and add their own margin, so their rates for customers are usually different. Asking more than one licensed BDC for its rate is the best way to know what’s fair on the day.

We never show “black market” rates: they can’t be verified, and dealing with unlicensed dealers is an offence.
